FLOATTI is in full compliance with TSA, FAA and IATA regulations and guidelines. is designed to be security-check friendly by optimizing the size of the built-in battery, the design of the electronic module and the internal wiring between different components. We do not expect FLOATTI users to be stopped or questioned by airport security.

FLOATTI’s APP will send you alerts whenever your suitcase is out of your chosen range, keeping you in the loop and in your comfort zone. We even send you a notification when your suitcase arrives at the baggage claim.

According to a report issued by SITA, an aviation communications and technology company that tracks baggage performance each year, in 2014 the percentage of luggage mishandled by airlines averaged 7.3 pieces per 1,000 passengers. Among these mishandled luggage, 81% eventually got back to their owner without any damage. Only 3% of these mishandled luggage are ultimately reported lost or stolen. That means if you are travelling by air, only 1 luggage per 5,000 passengers would need utilize GPS to locate their luggage; in addition, the majority of found luggages, tend to be cleaned/emptied out of your valuables.

GPS has its limitations with regards to size, weight, connectivity, phone compatibility and cost. Therefore, we consider GPS baggage tracking to be impractical at this moment and we suggest allowing the airline and insurance companies to handle this area. Should its technology become suitable we certainly will consider implementing this feature into the FLOATTI suitcase.

Why doesn’t FLOATTI have fingerprint-activated TSA locks?

We built FLOATTI to have the most reliable lock in its 5 years lifespan. Digital locks serves a specific purpose, adding a layer of security but they are more vulnerable to shocks, impact, friction, extreme weather and temperature, and require frequent software and firmware updates to function properly and reliably. Many additional and unnecessary variables come into play such as, battery, connectivity, surfaces sensitivity etc. which can brings little value for its costs. Should its technology become suitable we certainly will consider implementing this feature into the FLOATTI suitcase.

Why doesn’t FLOATTI have GPS tracking?

We believe in a preventive system. There is no need to find an item, if we prevent it from being lost in the first place.FLOATTI’s APP will send you alerts whenever your suitcase is out of your chosen range, keeping you in the loop andin your comfort zone. We even send you a notification when your suitcase arrives at the baggage claim.

GPS has its limitations with regards to size, weight, connectivity, phone compatibility and cost. Therefore, weconsider GPS baggage tracking to be impractical at this moment and we suggest allowing the airline and insurancecompanies to handle this area. Should its technology become suitable we certainly will consider implementing thisfeature into the FLOATTI suitcase.

Why doesn’t FLOATTI have fingerprint-activated TSA locks?

We built FLOATTI to have the most reliable lock in its 5 years lifespan. Digital locks serves a specific purpose, addinga layer of security but they are more vulnerable to shocks, impact, friction, extreme weather and temperature, andrequire frequent software and firmware updates to function properly and reliably. Many additional and unnecessaryvariables come into play such as, battery, connectivity, surfaces sensitivity etc. which can brings little value for itscosts. Should its technology become suitable we certainly will consider implementing this feature into the FLOATTIsuitcase.

Troubleshooting - Compatibility Issues
